Nottingham Report
Monday 7th MAY
A small contingency of AIM went to the Brewers Yard this bank holiday Monday joining in with groups from all over the country at a small but well run and established event in Nottingham.
We had the opportunity of talking to vets from many wars including the Second World War, Korea, Northern Ireland and the Gulf. As chance had it we had the pleasure of meeting with George Taylor who was with a RAF deployment that went into the Normandy invasion with the US troops on Utah beach. We also met two very charming young ladies that told us of their adventures with
the airborne boys of the 508th, I think we brought a lot of happy memories back for them, they laughed and giggled with us for ages!
Overall it was a fantastic way to start the public events of this season and to get some of the new boys talking to likeminded living historians and finally their chance to meet with some vets and hear the stories first hand!
Here’s to the rest of the season!
